Chad and I watched the Strawberry Moon rise over the Potomac River on Friday, a way to extend the wonder of the Summer Solstice a bit longer.
Saturday morning, we were out early before the heat advisory took effect to visit Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens National Park.
The lotuses are just starting to bloom.
I loved seeing how the blossoms and buds caught the early morning light.
And we could see how the lotus blooms in stages from bud to blossom to the unique showerhead seed pod.
Here at home, daisies, coneflower, chickory and coreopsis are in bloom in our wildflower bed. A first cosmos blossomed this week. The bees are busy on the native bee balm and lavender plants and the vegetable garden is full of squash blossoms.
Summer is a great season for creativity. I’ve been focused on taking in some of the wonders of the light and blooms of the season so I have more photos than words to share in this newsletter.
I would love to hear what you are celebrating on these longer summer days.
I’m offering a sale in my Etsy shop through July 3. Enjoy 10% off all purchases with code SUMMERSUN.
