Kathryn to visit Fort Hunt Elementary June 10
Kathryn will visit students in Kindergarten - 3rd grades on June 10th to talk about her books and share a collage project with the students. The photo at the top of the page is of the collections of materials the students will use. Stay tuned to our blog for photos and stories from this visit.
As part of this visit Art at the Center will donate a book to the Fort Hunt Elementary PTA Care and Share program for every book purchased. We look forward to inspiring summer reading and making with this visit.
As we head into summer, it's a great time to reflect on creative process. Below are links to blog posts from Robin about the evolution in her teaching style in her time with Art at the Center. These posts are also great opportunities to see examples of student work from her classes.
I also encourage you to check out posts on Robin's blog about some of her great quilting outreach projects.
Evolution of a Teacher part 1
Evolution of a Teacher part 2
Celebration of Intention is another beautiful post by Robin. It is part 3 of her blog series, Evolution of a Teacher AND it is a powerful post on its own about the value of slowing down to reflect on process and intention.
I feel there’s a need to stop rushing from project to project working only for completions sake. We need to slow down & think about our work, become involved & truly connected to what we’re making.
Creating is a part of us & if we work for production, we don’t give ourselves the space to grow. We grow by learning & reflecting. The Celebration of Process gives us this space.
