May News from Art at the Center
For the month of May my artwork will be on display at Martha Washington Library. This is new work toward an exhibit at Huntley Meadows Park this fall. Work will be displayed at Huntley Meadows beginning in September.
Art Show Celebration
I was honored to be to join teachers and young artists at Emmanuel Episcopal Preschool last week for their closing art show. This show was the culmination and celebration of a year of work with loose parts, exploring printing, building and work with wire and mobiles. It is also a celebration of a relationship that has deepened and grown with materials and with adults and children over three years of working with the wonderful teachers at the school.
An Opportunity to Support Community Art
Bryant Alternative School art students are working on a huge mosaic mural for the wall outside the school. I had the chance to visit Bryant a couple weeks ago to see the work in progress and meet some of the student artists. It is going to be a beautiful addition to our community.
If you would like to help with raising funds for the installation, visit their "Go Fund Me" page here.
Art Camp This Summer
I will be directing Art Camp at Shrine Mont this summer. This sleep-away camp is for ages 8-15 and runs August 5-12.
Details and registration can be found here and reflections from last summer can be found on the camp blog.
I am looking for a couple cabin counselors. If you know college students who might be interested, please have them contact me for more information.
